Submissions

Author Guidelines

Contributions to SAH must be submitted via the journal’s online submission system. SAH accepts article submissions on a rolling basis. Please contact us if you are interested in sharing your work with SAH.

Please note the following review and publishing criteria for reviewed articles:

  1. Authors grant the right of first publication to SAH including publication in print and electronic media.
  2. A descriptive abstract (max. 350 words in length) is required for articles.
  3. Articles should not exceed 8000 words, exclusive of references.
  4. The manuscript is in single-spaced Times News Roman 12-point font; section headings are in bold Times News Roman 18-point font; sub-section headings, figure headings and table headings are in bold Times News Roman 12-point font; block-quotes are in Times News Roman 11-point font. This .doc template forms the basis for article submissions and the submission file is in .doc or .rtf file format.
  5. The submission adheres to the bibliographic requirements of the Chicago Manual of Style (footnotes only, no endnotes; also footnotes for in-text referencing). We recommend that authors use Zotero, which is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organise, cite, and share your research sources in one place. It lives right where you do your work—in the web browser itself. The quick-start guide can be accessed here.
  6. The editors reserve the right to edit manuscripts for style, clarity, consistency and length.
  7. The review/feedback process takes between four to six weeks.
  8. Article submission/processing charges do not apply.
  9. Authors retain the copyright in their work under a Creative Commons Share and Enjoy Licence.
  10. SAH is an open access journal.

If authors would like to submit a poem, review, report or interview for publication with SAH, please contact us for relevant submission guidelines.
